Driveways in Caterham

A valley town on the dip slope of the North Downs. Steep gardens are common — and with them, the retaining and levelling work that makes them usable.

Driveways in Caterham

A driveway carries weight, sheds water and frames the front of the house — all while being the thing most visitors see first. We build in block paving, resin-bound, brick sett and natural stone, each on a sub-base engineered to carry what needs carrying.

Our process

  1. 01

Site survey — assess vehicle loads, measure the area, check falls and drainage routes.

  2. 02

Specification — choose the surface material, agree edging detail, confirm layout.

  3. 03

Groundworks — excavate, lay sub-base in compacted layers, install edge restraints.

  4. 04

Surface — lay the chosen material, cut to line, compact or finish as required.

  5. 05

Drainage and finish — connect to existing drainage or install new, clean and handover.

Materials we use

  • Clay block pavers (herringbone, stretcher, basket-weave)
  • Resin-bound aggregate
  • Natural stone setts
  • Brick setts
  • Granite sett edging and borders

Typical timeline

Two to three weeks on site for a standard domestic drive.

About Caterham

1930s and post-war houses on sloping plots. Many gardens need structural work before anything decorative goes in.

Common questions

Block paving is more traditional, repairable in sections, and suits period properties. Resin-bound is seamless, permeable, and often preferred for a clean contemporary look. Both last well when laid on the right base.
