Decking & timber in Lewes
The county town of East Sussex — hilly, historic, architecturally self-conscious. Residents here notice detail, and they notice when it is wrong.
Decking & timber in Lewes
Decking extends the living space — a level platform off a kitchen door, a raised viewing point, a transition between house and garden. We build in hardwood and composite on galvanised steel or timber subframes, with fixings hidden and boards that stay level.
Our process
- 01
Site survey — check levels, access, ground conditions and proximity to the house DPC.
- 02
Specification — choose board material and profile, agree layout, balustrade and lighting.
- 03
Subframe — install posts, bearers and joists at correct centres, level and squared.
- 04
Boarding — fix boards with hidden clips, cut to line, finish edges cleanly.
- 05
Balustrades, lighting and handover — fit any railings, integrate lighting, hand over care notes.
Materials we use
- Hardwood (iroko, balau, oak)
- Composite boards (Millboard, Trex, similar)
- Galvanised steel subframes
- Treated softwood subframes
- Stainless steel and hidden clip fixings
Typical timeline
One to three weeks on site depending on size, access and complexity.
About Lewes
Steep hillside plots with flint and brick retaining walls. Town-centre gardens are tight; edge-of-town properties are more generous.
The furthest point south we regularly cover — we take projects here when the brief is strong.
Common questions
Hardwood weathers to silver and has a natural warmth; it needs periodic oiling if you want to keep the original colour. Composite requires no maintenance and stays consistent. Walk on both before deciding.
