Patios & terraces in Tunbridge Wells

A spa town with a distinct sense of heritage — Victorian villas, tree-lined avenues, and an expectation that work should match its surroundings.

Patios & terraces in Tunbridge Wells

A well-built terrace should sit flush with the threshold, shed water invisibly, and feel level underfoot twenty years on. We lay in natural stone, porcelain and clay paver on full mortar beds over engineered sub-bases — specified to the site, not to a standard template.

Our process

  1. 01

Site survey — measure the space, check levels, note drainage and access constraints.

  2. 02

Specification — choose materials from samples, agree layout, confirm dimensions in writing.

  3. 03

Groundworks — excavate to formation, lay and compact the sub-base, set falls for drainage.

  4. 04

Laying — bed the paving on full mortar, cut to line, point in the specified style.

  5. 05

Finish and handover — clean down, review against specification, hand over care notes.

Materials we use

  • Indian sandstone (riven and sawn)
  • Yorkstone
  • Limestone
  • 20mm external-grade porcelain
  • Clay pavers
  • Granite setts for edging and borders

Typical timeline

Two to four weeks on site, depending on area and complexity.

About Tunbridge Wells

Large detached houses with established rear gardens, many on sloping sites. Mature trees, clay soil, and existing stone or brick features are common.

One of our most regular working areas — we know the streets, the soil and the suppliers.

Common questions

Stone weathers and develops character; porcelain stays consistent and cleans more easily. Walk on both before you decide — the feel underfoot is as important as the look.
